Hello Everybody!

I just want to let everyone know that we are safely in the Bahamas and had a wonderful first day! Our flight went smoothly and we were in and out of customs in 10 minutes. We arrived at the hostel and when I was checking in about 10 other SASers were in the lobby. Everyone is so nice and they helped us with our bags. As soon as we were settled, we headed to cable beach where Ryan played beach vollyball with the others. I watched! The beach is so beautiful, white sands and turquoise waters. We then went out to eat at the fish fry, where we saw huge lobsters and enjoyed time with the locals. The best part about the Bahamas: one dollar bus rides anywhere on the island! After freshening up, we met more SASers in the lobby of Atlantis, where we then went out to a local pub and played pool with the locals and got to know our newfound friends a little better. We then went to Senor Frogs, the most popular pub on the island and had fun with kareoke and dancing. I am about to head to sleep because we have an early morning with the dolphins! I will update soon!

Hi Ryan & Erika,

Puerto Rico is on our national plan for our phones so is free from your phone to Connor or me or anyone on cingular, and goes against our 1000 minutes just as if you were here in Camarillo.

For all other ports I checked on the international calling for Ryan's phone and paid the $5.95 per month (on my tab-not yours) to activate it. Please use sparingly because the per minute charges are hefty. I left the paper at work that I have the prices on but I think that the Bahamas are $1.99 per minute. If you call me or Connor there is no charge on our receiving end since we share minutes, but it is still $1.99 from your end. If you call anyone else it is my understanding that they pay an even larger per minute charge--maybe 50 cents more per minute if they aren't on an ATTorCingular international plan. If they are, then it is the same cost as yours.

I think the only place you can't call from is South Africa, but I will check on that again because the website says you can on cingular. From Japan you need a certain megahertz phone to make it work.

Anyway--I'll get you the details and keep track of the $. It is up to you to use as you will. There may be a time or two that you need to use it to contact someone else in your group to save alot of headaches, but again $$$. It is way cheaper to call us with the International calling card (I think?) (except in Puerto Rico where your cell is like here.)

Glad you're having a great time.

Erika--were the guys you were watching play volleyball like the ones in the movie "Top Gun"? Ha!

Love,
Mamamats.
